Post Rigging your spearing decoys in portable shantys

With a lot of guys using the portable hub and cabin style shantys, how is everyone setting up their spearing decoys? In my Shappell Ice House 5000 hub style I am using a bungee cord stretched from the roof supports. (see pic) Then I tie my Arnold tip up line directly to the cord and hang it over the middle of the hole. In my Shappell DX 4000 cabin style shanty I wind my Arnold tip up line around the roof supports. Of course you can always use a jigging stick, but I like the hands free option. It would be great to hear back from all of you handy dandy spear fisherman to see how everyone else is doing it.

I'm curious too because I've never had a chance to try this yet and these are the kinds of things I need to know! Thanks Keith! Let's see if we can get some other opinions and tips?

I spear out of hub style shanties and I always use wooden decoys on a jigging stick. If I want to run a live decoy too, I set a tip up as close to my spear hole as I can so that you can actually see the minnow swimming around at the edge of your spearing hole. whenever I want extra action out of the minnow, I just bump into it with my artificial decoy.

Do you have a spot to hang or set down your stick? I like the tip up close by the hole idea. Also gives you a chance to see how they are acting around the tip up baits.

Here's something that I saw that I'm thinking about trying. Nice lightweight "yoyo" reel on a shower curtain ring.
Small dia. rope tied diagonally across shanty.

Its interesting how many nice pike will come over and stare at a live minnow on a tip up and not bite.
Most of the time I have two jig sticks in the water at the same time but alternate between them letting one sit while I swim the other. Most of the time ,the one Im not swimming at the moment, I just set it down on the floor. I alternate between the two letting one of them sit while swimming the other. I also change colors or size on one of them about every 15 minutes or so.
Depending how I cut my hole or how crowded my shanty is I may place a jigging stick between the wall fabric and a support pole but rarely.

This is slick! Let me know if you try it and how it works.
