Ice fishing shanties and shelters are lined up, even floating in the air for the 2013 Ultimate Fishing Show Detroit ice extravaganza.

Ice fishing shanties and shelters are lined up, even floating in the air for the 2013 Ultimate Fishing Show Detroit ice extravaganza at Suburban Collection Showplace January 10 through the 13th.

Novi – Ice fishing aficionados take heed: The largest collection in Michigan of ice fishing shanties, shelters, augers, sleds, rods and reels, lures and other equipment will be on display and available for purchase January 10 through 13 at the Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit at Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi.

This ice fishing extravaganza promises to provide anglers with everything needed to put fish on the ice including new, innovative equipment and educational seminars by some of the best jiggers and diddlers in the business.

“This year’s Ultimate Fishing Show will have more ice fishing tackle than any other show in Michigan…ever,” says Henri Boucher, show producer. “The show will have manufacturer representatives from Clam, Shappell, Otter Outdoors, Frabill, Eskimo, Normark, Marcum, Strikemaster, and many more companies. Multiple retailers will be present, including Frank’s Great Outdoors, with literally tons of ice tackle. Daily seminars will be given by the best in the business. This is something you definitely don’t want to miss.”

Frank’s Great Outdoors is bringing two semi truck/trailers filled with “everything ice fishing,” according to Joe Raymer, of Frank’s “Icetravaganza.” Five ice shelter manufacturers will be represented in the largest display of ice shanties in Michigan. There will also be loads of power and hand augers, ice electronics, rods, reels and lures.

“Michigan is kind of a second season for ice fishing equipment manufacturers,” Raymer said. “Most of the time, people in Wisconsin and Minnesota are getting tired of ice fishing by mid-January because they’ve been doing it since Thanksgiving. In southern Michigan, we’re just getting started.”

In addition to all the gear, Frank’s is bringing a stacked lineup of seminar speakers to the Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit. Heading that list is Jacek Gawlinski and Zibi Wojcik from Frabill. Natives of Poland, Gawlinski and Zibi are skilled ice fisherman, tournament ice fishing champs and entertaining speakers. Chuck Mason, a manufacturer representative for Vexilar, Clam, St. Croix, and Northland, Tony Aloia, a national sales rep for Eskimo, and Ice Team member Ross Robertson are also on that list. Raymer and Andy Gorske will provide seminars on their new ice fishing business, “Saginaw Bay Guide Service.”

Michigan native Mark Martin, professional walleye fishing’s “Original Champ,” is also an accomplished ice fisherman. During the ice season, Martin is an instructor with Fishing Vacation/Schools and presents hands-on fishing workshops on the ice at various locations across Michigan. At the Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit, Martin will give seminars on techniques for catching walleyes in Saginaw Bay.

Normark’s “Ice Force” Ice Fishing Series makes its first-ever appearance in Detroit. Top professionals will explain the concept of using a system of modern ice fishing gear – ice electronics, augers, shelters and accessories – as a unified component for ice fishing. They’ll provide tips on selecting and combining the proper components to provide the best opportunity to put fish on the ice.

Angler’s Point Marine Ice Fishing Series is a new exhibitor to UFD. Angler’s Point is located on Lake St. Clair and stocks the equipment that serious ice fisherman are looking for. Angler’s Point experts will conduct seminars on a variety of ways to catch fish through the ice.

If you’re gearing up for the ice fishing season you won’t want to miss this exciting Ice Pavilion “show within a show” at the Ultimate Fishing Show–Detroit, January 10 through 13 in Novi.
