Last post by djkimmel - December 22, 2016, 07:22:41 PM
With the installation of this new, full-featured forum community software a new user is now required to use this forum from the regular GLIF membership you may have also or previously signed up for. Sorry for the inconvenience but I have no safe, sure way to combine the two systems and keep them both updated and secure while sharing data.

If you want to participate on the new forum please create a new user (you can use your old existing name if it is still available) through the forum by using the Register feature on the forum. A valid email account and email activation is required to keeps things safe and sound for everyone.

If you don't get the automatic email activation message within 20 minutes to the email address you registered with please check your spam folder. You may have a typo on here in your email address too. You can contact admin for help in that case - provide your new forum username in your contact.

Your original GLIF account login is still good and works on the rest of the website if you want to comment on an article (outside of the forum) or maybe participate in a website contest or promotion - that user account may still be needed. We'll try to keep the two clear as much as possible throughout the website for you to minimize confusion. Just remember that if you want to use the forum - you need a separate forum membership. Thank you!

Safe Ice Reports / NOTICE! No guaranties or warra...
Last post by djkimmel - December 22, 2016, 06:25:28 PM
There is no such thing as truly safe ice depending on your own personal use and behavior on that ice when you venture out! If you always remember that you'll be better off. Always test ice and new locations as you go out with a spud or some other method that verifies the safety of the ice around you. Remember that ice thickness can vary day to day and location to location even on the same water due to various factors you may or may not be familiar with.

No posts on GLIF guaranty ice safety or that you can go out on the ice yourself successfully too anywhere. You are responsible for your own safety and safe ice practices. Posts on this forum are not recommendations or guaranties - just general informational not withstanding that the post could be inaccurate or out-of-date.

Safe ice posts are a courtesy of the member posting them and GLIF is not responsible for the post or anything that results from your use of that post information.

Always be safe first. GLIF suggests you always keep ice picks readily available along with a rope you can throw to someone, preferably tied to a life jacket you wear especially on ice you are not already intimately and personally recently familiar with. Remember, ice quality can change fast especially early and late in the season, and due to conditions such as rain, snow or warming weather trends.
