Finally getting some ice here in Southern Michigan so we’ll get out ice fishing soon. Some already getting out. For those of us who haven’t gotten out yet here’s some underwater video of a school of panfish.
However, don’t over look the other panfish species including the Crappie. Experienced ice anglers know this can be one of the best times of year to catch these giant panfish.

This past weekend was free fishing weekend in Michigan. Meaning, no license needed to get out on the water. I took full advantage of this to get my wife out fishing.
Mark Martin of Twin Lake, Michigan, has been known as an incredible fisherman since his Monster Walleye nighttime guided trips on White and Muskegon Lakes in the 1980s. This year, his talents and accomplishments are being recognized at the highest level as he will be inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame.
There’s little evidence to suggest Benjamin Franklin was an ice fisherman but if he were alive today and inclined to spend a nice winter’s day on the ice, he surely would see the value in Mark Martin’s Ice Fishing Vacation School.
